1 – Description
The Sincra type AHE 10 ignitor is used to ignite oil or gas burners of any capacity in industrial plant andpower stations.
To minimize wear and tear at the ignition tip the lance should be withdrawn out of the flame region and thedevice switched off as soon as successful ignition is achieved.
2 – Operating
A high tension capacitor in the control unit is charged up with an energy equivalent to 10J/second and thenreleased via a switching unit to the ignition tip. The resultant arc discharge converts the energy into heatwhich ignites the fuel.To ensure successful ignition the device operates for the first 20 seconds at a discharge frequency of 25impulses per second, during the next 20 seconds the frequency is reduced at 12 impulses per second andafterwards the unit is off for 40 seconds.
3 – Installation
Mechanical installation should be carried out in accordance with the approprate dimension sheet for the respective Ignition Device Model or Insertion/Retraction Unit. ( High voltage warning ) A Voltage of 1100 V is generated within the unit.Proper installation of the power feed leads and the ground cable must be carried out in accordance with therelevant codes (e.g VDE Regulations).The power supply may only be connected after the device installation is fully completed.
4 – Ignition position
With oil burners the optimun position of the ignition tip is in general at the edge of the fuel spray zone just after the vortex vanes or flame stabilizer disc.
The absolute position can be best determined by adjusting the axial position of the tip by hand in the field with an axial movement of the lance. When firing heavy fuel oil an adequate oil preheat temperature must be provided (generally) about 110 to 130°C). The position of the ignition tip is relatively unimportant in gas burners, however, a good mixing of fuel gas and air must be achieved at the selected position.
A sure and smooth start can be accomplished at low fuel gas flowrates (burner start up conditions).
To minimize wear and tear at the ignition tip the lance should be withdrawn out of the flame region and the device switched off as soon as successful flame ignition is obtained. The operational life of the tip is 3. 10/5 ignition impulses which is equivalent to 8 hours of continuous service.
High temperatures and burn out in the flame zone lead to increased wear at the ignition tip.
